Job Summary

Working for the Global Director of Capital Procurement, you will be responsible for the procurement and consolidation of capital purchases. 

 

Responsibility

  • Contact negotiations including renewals and cancellations.
  • Reduction in Linamar’s purchase costs by linking and leveraging spend. 
  • Develop the sourcing strategy, balancing total cost, quality, and risk. 
  • Work in a consolidating function, leveraging Linamar’s total spend in categories to maximize the best potential commercial agreements company wide.
  • Establish long-term supply agreements with Suppliers.
  • Identify potential new sources of supply that offer more competitive.
  • Review CapEx reqs for accuracy and required detail in compliance with GOS, PRB and FRB requirements.
  • Maintain and improve various systems: Machine Database, Capex Workflow, LCSAs
  • Support plants in crisis management with suppliers relating to quality, delivery/capacity short falls.
  • Monitor and capture purchasing metrics and supplier diversity spend as required.
  • Benchmarking purchases globally.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers and plants.
  • Participate in PRBs and FRBs reviews as required. Execute assignments given during review in a timely manner.
  • Maybe required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

 

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Able to understand options of supply, cost breakdowns and cost analysis, use benchmarking techniques to compare various supplier’s processes and benchmarks.

  • Remain constantly informed of macro – economic developments that can affect your commodity.  Supply demand impacts, commodity markets, geopolitical issues globally.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, with the ability to communicate technical information to suppliers and internal staff. 

  • Communicate with co-workers, customers, and suppliers about operational matters.

  • Judge the quality of products.  Evaluate quality of service provided by suppliers.

  • Ability to work independently but also work in teams with co-workers and suppliers.

  • Strong communication skills both internally and externally with suppliers.

  • Strong computer skills, including the use of ERPs, spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
