Summary:
The Science Facilities Operations Coordinator serves as the primary operational support to the Associate Director of Facilities Operations for the Hall of Science, Don Myers Technology and Innovation Building, and Asbury Building. The Coordinator supports the daily operations of these science facilities by coordinating maintenance requests, assisting with laboratory equipment support, and responding to operational needs of faculty, staff, and students.
The Coordinator works closely with College and University partners to ensure that teaching and research spaces remain functional, safe, and responsive to user needs. This includes coordinating service requests, supporting equipment maintenance and service contracts, managing access to controlled spaces, and assisting with purchasing, inventory, and asset tracking for laboratory and research equipment.
The Coordinator uses strong customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills to support faculty and research activities within the life sciences. The position also provides coordination and guidance for faculty supporting instrumentation located in Core equipment spaces. The Operations Coordinator identifies opportunities to improve operational processes and facilities services within the science buildings.
Essential Functions:
1.) Facilities Operations Coordination
Provides day-to-day operational coordination for the Hall of Science, Don Myers Technology and Innovation Building, and Asbury Building in support of research and instructional activities. Submits and tracks maintenance requests through University service systems and serves as the on-site point of contact for service technicians and contractors. Conducts regular building walk-throughs to identify maintenance or operational needs and coordinates follow-up with appropriate campus service units. Assists with coordinating laboratory equipment maintenance and service contracts to ensure continuity of research and teaching operations.
2.) Laboratory Facilities and Safety Support
Works with faculty, departments, and Environmental Health & Safety to support laboratory safety and regulatory compliance within science facilities. Coordinates maintenance and certification of laboratory safety equipment and assists with ensuring required training and access approvals for individuals working in controlled laboratory spaces. Collaborates with Environmental Health & Safety staff to support a safe, clean, and compliant research environment.
3.) Equipment, Purchasing, and Asset Coordination
Coordinates purchasing activities related to laboratory and facility equipment, supplies, and service contracts. Maintains inventory and asset records for scientific equipment and assists with tracking maintenance schedules, service agreements, and equipment lifecycle needs. Coordinates equipment installation, relocation, and disposal in collaboration with departments and Environmental Health & Safety.
4.) Project and Operational Support
Assists with planning and coordination of facilities-related projects, including minor facility improvements, equipment replacements, and operational initiatives supporting research and teaching spaces. Supports the preparation of documentation and justification for facility systems or equipment proposals and contracts.
5.) Scheduling
Assists with scheduling shared spaces including Core equipment laboratories and multi-purpose rooms within science facilities.
6.) Other Duties as Assigned
Performs other duties in support of science facilities operations and College initiatives as assigned.

Full-time.
35 hours per week.
Full on campus presence.
Continuation of the program/position is contingent upon external funding.
Salary Range:
$30.94 - $32.97 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree.
1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Science preferred.
2 - 4 years of relevant experience.

Highly organized and outcomes orientation.
Excellent communication skills, team player, and technology awareness.
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
