These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Hours vary; Monday through Sunday; between 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
LOCATION(S): 1600 Lidia Selkregg LN
These seasonal positions will end approximately six (6) months after date of hire.
Employees who are initially hired for any Seasonal position shall be placed at Step 3, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Under supervision, the Recreation Specialist II position leads entry-level staff that is responsible for delivering parks and recreation and youth employment activities within Anchorage parks and facilities. This position monitors and supervises participants, organizes & directs activities, cleans facilities and grounds as directed . Employees in this classification work with independence and initiative within the Department's established policies and procedures to perform as an entry level lead. As an entry level lead, employees in this position are expected to provide safe recreational and learning environments.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year experience in the program or activity under consideration. Prior experience in the use of recreational equipment is required.
All applicants must possess or obtain:
· American Red Cross First Aid Certification, and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent at time of hire.
· A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record at time of hire.
· Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400) at time of hire.
