THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Utilize the MRP system to understand weekly, monthly and annual purchasing requirements to plan and create purchase orders along with monitoring and managing their fulfillment.
  • Collaborates with other Production and Demand Planning to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels.
  • Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain or service information, for example price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Sources products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items, consulting with end users and obtaining pricing information. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Expedite delivery of goods to ensure timely receipt of requisitioned items
  • Liaise with manufacturing regarding shortages.
  • Follow-up on late orders or verify delivery dates for ordered items.
  • Monitor and build strong relationships with the vendor community, communicating on a consistent basis with suppliers regarding orders, shortages, and new products.
  • Communicate with Production Planning regarding schedule and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure shortage do not occur and verify system counts to ac
    • Check stock from report to ensure shortages do not occur
    • Perform spot checks on raw material and finished products to verify accuracy of system count

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3-5 years of materials management experience within the food industry
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field or completion of high school with equivalent work experience
  • Experience in sourcing raw materials and finished products
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent negotiating skills with a strong view of customer service
  • Excellent time management and analytical skills
  • Well organized and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
