Overview

The Production Planner is accountable for planning and coordinating the work of employees engaged in the assembly, fabrication, testing, repair, and inspection of electronic components and systems. Responsibilities include determining production capacity, scheduling project production timelines, and collaborating with the Operations Manager. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and generate daily production schedules (day shift/night shift) for the activities of workers who assemble, fabricate, inspect and test electronic and electromechanical assemblies, parts and components.  
  • Evaluate workforce and machine capacity to meet production targets, coordinating with management to address labor needs 
  • Ensuring production teams meet critical deadlines. 
  • Create, maintain and adjust long term and short term production schedules to meet customer demand and sale forecast. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and decrease costs. 
  • Monitor performance against schedules/plans. 
  • Use workers and resources in the most effective manner. 
  • Requisition materials and supplies.  
  • Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed.  
  • Generate reports to track on time delivery and schedule accuracy. 
  • Read and analyze work orders, production schedules to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.  
  • Confer with Operations Manager to resolve worker problems and complaints.  
  • Ensure that company deadlines are met. 
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or a related field or associate degree in Business with 5 years of experience in a production scheduling role preferred. 
  • Increasing levels of responsibility in a production environment 
  • PMI-SP certification nice to have. 
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment would be considered an asset
