At Saje, you’ll connect with a dynamic community and make a positive impact. Join our team and grow your career, alongside the most talented, hard working, and kind-hearted people out there.
The impact you'll make:
Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the Product Category Manager is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the intersection of category management and innovation across a defined product portfolio. You will set the category direction and deliver commercial results by spotting growth opportunities, shaping strategy, and influencing priorities, while leading new products from insight and concept through to launch.
At Saje, our mission is to ‘Remedy Real Life’ for our community members. This role brings that mission to life by building strong partnerships and earning buy-in across the business, including R&D, Regulatory, Sourcing, Finance, Marketing, and Creative. You will drive alignment on the product roadmap, secure resources, and move work forward with clarity and pace. Grounded in commercial data and insights (e.g., market trends, community member shopping habits, and competitive intelligence), you will champion the highest-impact opportunities—products with the potential to become new heroes within our assortment, while strengthening the overall health and relevance of the portfolio you manage.
All Saje Team Members contribute to our culture by showing up with care, collaboration, and accountability—helping create a positive environment for themselves and their peers.
What you'll do:
Product Innovation & Conceptualization:
- Partner with the Director of Innovation to shape a 3-year innovation strategy and a 24-month pipeline—you will bring together consumer insights, trend-forward thinking, and commercial priorities.
- Build clear, compelling innovation concepts that kick off development by defining the customer problem to solve, differentiation, and the financial opportunity for Saje.
- Champion high-value, high-impact innovations with the goal of delivering new hero products; these are items our community members can’t live without and return to repurchase again and again.
- Work closely with R&D and cross-functional partners to take products from ideation through commercialization by driving alignment, decisions, and momentum.
- Test prototypes and provide actionable feedback to ensure formulas, claims, and sensorial experience meet the Saje standard and are ready to scale.
- Stay ahead of the competitive and market landscape to surface emerging trends, whitespace opportunities, and risks and translate them into clear recommendations.
Category Management:
- Own the creation and execution of category strategies across a defined product portfolio, delivering against our product vision and financial goals (e.g., revenue, units, margin, adoption, and repeat purchase).
- Make recommendations for SKU rationalization and discontinuations, supported by data, and build plans to protect (or replace) sales through improved assortment and innovation.
- Develop portfolio architecture (including aroma and format) that map to core community “need states” and support intuitive navigation in-store and online.
- Shape new product positioning to unlock new community members and emerging need states, whilst thoughtfully managing cannibalization and protecting the core assortment.
- Build a cadence of limited-edition and seasonal launches that keeps our community engaged, tests new ideas, and introduces new formats into the assortment.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Build and maintain key partnerships across R&D, Regulatory, Sourcing, Finance, Marketing, and Creative by aligning stakeholders, removing roadblocks, and driving timely decisions.
- Serve as the portfolio ambassador and product storyteller. Create shared clarity and energy across the organization for the strategy, roadmap, and launches.
- In partnership with the Director of Innovation, present concepts, strategies, and investment cases to the CEO and Executive Team to secure alignment, sign-off, and funding.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 5+ years of product development, category management, or merchant buying experience in a related field; preferably in the cosmetic, wellness, or CPG industries.
- Entrepreneurial, innovative, and creative mindset; able to spot or create original, authentic product opportunities.
- Proven ability to influence, build alignment, and drive decisions across cross-functional partners, including presenting recommendations to senior leaders.
- Builder mindset with experience taking concepts from 0→1 in ambiguous environments; comfortable creating structure, running test-and-learn cycles, and iterating quickly.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, including opportunity sizing, business case development, forecasting, and post-launch performance tracking.
- Highly resourceful and outcomes-focused— able to deliver results within constraints (timelines, budgets, resourcing) and navigate competing priorities.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Product storyteller with a demonstrated ability to build internal excitement around product developments.
- Team player who works productively with a wide range of cross-functional partners.
- Solid work ethic with desire to achieve team goals and company revenue targets.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
