Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cost estimates and forecasts deliveries during Engineering proposal stage
  • Quotes, issues purchase orders, and expedites approval documentation and materials
  • Leads negotiation of price, delivery and terms for project commodities, equipment and services
  • Attends, prepares and presents reports in weekly project and production meetings
  • Contacts and meets with vendors/suppliers to ensure timely deliveries
  • Tracks and coordinates incoming freight shipments
  • Develops and registers new suppliers and continuously evaluates performance
  • Processes and compiles various reports
  • Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Monitors business trends and product availability
  • Develops and implements strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels
  • Collaborates with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Anticipates unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepares control strategies
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
  • Works with business stakeholders to develop and implement innovative procurement and category management strategies to meet specific business needs, manage risk and deliver value for money
  • Proactively identifies and addresses procurement risks and mitigation strategies to meet organizational compliance requirements
  • Keeps up to date with procurement policy, processes and legislation; builds knowledge of the business and supplier markets; gives the rate of change in these areas
  • Attends client meetings as required

Prerequisites Education

  • Minimum 2 year diploma in Supply Chain Management
  • Bachelors of Business Administration or Commerce in Supply Chain Management is preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years equivalent work experience as a Buyer or Procurement Coordinator for the energy or oil & gas industry
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or fabrication environment
  • Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Working knowledge in Visual Manufacturing or similar ERP system is an asset

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office setting with usual weekday office hours
  • Work outside office hours may occur to coordinate with stakeholders in different time zones
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
  • Requires the ability to deal with a diversity of people when responding to interdepartmental inquiries
  • Work involves frequent interaction with company warehouses, vendor locations, and project sites with some travel required
  • Multiple interruptions throughout the day require adjustment to priorities and effective multi-tasking

Physical Requirements

  • Requires ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods using a computer, reading manuals, etc…
  • Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away file boxes weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Occasional ability to stand for extended periods for scanning and photocopying
  • Manual dexterity for data input, paperwork and use of standard office equipment

 

 

  • Employees must adhere to dress code for safety sensitive areas. Company-standard PPE for construction sites includes CSA approved steel toed boots and full length pants
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground that is expected at yards, lay-down areas, and project sites
  • May occasionally be exposed to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions
