Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Procurement Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Capital Officer, this role is responsible for coordinating and supporting the procurement of greenhouse inputs, packaging materials, and operational supplies. This position plays an important role in ensuring materials are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with production schedules, inventory requirements, budget expectations, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase greenhouse inputs, packaging materials, and operational supplies in alignment with production needs and budgets.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage suppliers based on quality, pricing, reliability, delivery timelines, and service levels.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders, supplier contracts, renewals, and procurement documentation.
  • Negotiate pricing, service terms, and supply agreements to achieve best value and reduce supply risk.
  • Collaborate with greenhouse operations to forecast material requirements based on crop cycles, planting schedules, and inventory levels.
  • Monitor procurement spending, analyze cost trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure procurement activities and supplier documentation support Canadian regulatory, health and safety, food safety, and audit requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Post-secondary education in related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, inventory control, supply chain, or vendor management.
  • Experience preparing and managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, resolving order issues, and maintaining accurate procurement records.
  • Strong working knowledge of supplier management, pricing comparison, purchasing processes, and inventory planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal production or operational environment.
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel locally to suppliers, greenhouse, warehouse, or production areas as required.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred

  • Experience in a greenhouse, agriculture, food production, produce, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.
  • Experience supporting supplier contracts, renewals, pricing agreements, and vendor compliance documentation.
  • Understanding of seasonal production cycles, crop planning, or greenhouse operations.
  • Supply Chain, Procurement, or Purchasing certification, or working toward certification, is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily works in an office environment within a greenhouse operation.
  • Extended periods of sitting and computer work may be required.
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting of light materials may be required.
  • Must be able to manage changing priorities, seasonal demands, and time-sensitive purchasing requirements.
  • Periodic local travel may be required to meet with suppliers or visit company locations.
  • Some flexibility in hours may be required during peak production periods or to address urgent procurement needs.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
