Our Operation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring daily production and quality goals are met through effective leadership of people, processes, and equipment. This role prioritizes safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility while driving productivity and maintaining a positive, accountable work culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Supervise daily operations to ensure production, quality, and safety standards are consistently met
  2. Lead, train, and motivate employees; set expectations and hold teams accountable
  3. Schedule labor and equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
  4. Enforce company safety policies and proactively address unsafe conditions or behaviors
  5. Monitor workflow, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement continuous improvements
  6. Coordinate with maintenance, logistics, and management teams to support operations
  7. Conduct timely performance feedback and participate in employee development efforts
  8. Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and company policies

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Hold toolbox talks with direct reports at the beginning of every shift to ensure production needs are met.
  2. Communicate with the direct supervisor on daily production progress.
  3. Communicate with the maintenance Supervisor on any repairs or preventive maintenance needs.
  4. Handle inventory management, movement, transfers, and inspection.
  5. Complete monthly safety audits.
  6. Make sure work areas are clean and accessible.
  7. Review the Ready-to-Ship calendar daily to make sure loads are good to ship.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES 

  • Extensive knowledge of scrap metal business and processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of consumer specifications.
  • Ability to train others how to properly run our equipment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at time, stressful environment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a team player.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Three to five years of related experience
    • Preferred
  • Supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Required
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods standing.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
