JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operating processes, asset management records, safety records, and performance tracking of the facility. Manages the integration of contractor tasks and tracks and reviews contractor deliverables. Provides technical and analytical guidance to the team and supports through identifying and obtaining resource materials internally or from applicable vendors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager in a timely and professional manner and displays a maturity to work with minimal supervision
- Ensures plant operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures/permit conditions maintaining the site Environment, Health, and Safety system
- Leads plans to ensure plant resources, expenses, and talent are supported to achieve cost-effective and safe operations
- Reviews all maintenance activities and tracks progress to ensure an effective and timely response, supports maintenance technician in obtaining and/or assigning resources
- Functions as part of a team and works well with others
- Regularly attends safety meetings and ensures incidents are reported
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- 5-7 years’ experience working in an operating environment, preferably in residuals management, wastewater treatment, or relevant industry at a supervisory level
- Post-secondary education in a process/chemical or mechanical program or relevant journeyman trades training
- Proven organization and time management skills
- Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas both written and verbally with strong data capture and field reporting experience
- Ability to develop rapport with employees, vendors, and community
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems (Fiix experience considered an asset)
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating and uneven surfaces utilizing ladders when necessary
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg loads from ground periodically
- Ability to access confined spaces for general cleaning and inspections
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if/when required and respond to emergency call outs
