About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will be accountable for the day-to-day operations, performance, and growth of our training business. This role blends operational leadership, training delivery, and business development, ensuring high-quality training execution while expanding our client base and improving operational efficiency.

You will oversee training delivery, manage teams and resources, support revenue growth, and ensure all activities align with Hercules’ safety standards, financial objectives, and long-term vision.

Approximately 60% of the role involves hands-on training facilitation, with the remaining time focused on operational management, client development, and strategic growth initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations & Leadership

    • Oversee daily operations of the Training Academy, ensuring efficient scheduling, resource allocation, and operational consistency.

    • Lead, coach, and support local and remote training teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, financial targets, KPIs, and regulatory requirements.

    • Manage budgets, P&L performance, and cost controls while driving operational efficiency.

    • Monitor performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance training quality and profitability.

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate engaging, high-quality training sessions within the Training Academy portfolio, including:

    • Rigging

    • Overhead Crane

    • Working at Heights

    • Forklift Operator

    • Elevated Work Platform

    • Confined Space Entry

  • Ensure training programs meet certification requirements and reflect best practices in safety and adult learning.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.

Business Development & Growth

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new contracts and business opportunities.

  • Partner with clients to design customized training solutions aligned with their operational needs.

  • Represent Hercules at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities.

  • Analyze market trends and client feedback to inform growth strategies and service expansion.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Formal education or practical experience in Health & Safety or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in operations management, business development, sales, or a related leadership role.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with confidence delivering training in a classroom environment.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive accountability.

  • Solid understanding of budgeting, P&L management, and business growth strategies.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.

  • Experience in the training or safety industry is a strong asset.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
