Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not intended to be an all-inclusive list.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Monitors and directs work activities within areas of responsibility, ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner and that areas of responsibility are maintained in a neat and orderly condition. Ensures compliance with company plant and safety rules.

 

  • Plans operations, establishes priorities and sequences for shift activities. Coordinates production activities with other departments and personnel as necessary to maximize operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, within budget and according to customer needs.

 

  • Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local safety and/or environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards; maintains appropriate records and reports as required by regulations.

 

  • Ensures compliance with SSEP program requirements, conducts meeting as required, audits SSEP activities for quality and conformance with program requirements and expectations.  Trains and coaches team members in efficient work procedures, safe work practices, and good housekeeping practices through use of SunCoke Way (visual management, 5S, etc.).  Coaches and encourages development and growth of skills and abilities. 

 

  • Facilitate and participate in incident investigations as required (i.e. RCFA), including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate.

 

  • Assist operations team members in developing operations documents including SOPs , JSA’s and checklists.

 

  • Trains and coaches team members in efficient work procedures, safe work practices, and good housekeeping practices through use of the SunCoke Way (visual management, 5S, autonomous maintenance, etc). Coaches and encourages development and growth of skills and abilities.  

 

  • Evaluates the efficiency of working procedures, manpower utilization and cost control measures, making recommendations and implementing actions to improve efficiency.  Track and analyze operating data.

 

  • Monitors, reviews, prepares and analyzes reports and data to identify trends,  root cause analysis (RCA), or non-compliance;  recommending and implementing corrective actions accordingly. 

 

  • Conduct regular crew meetings to establish effective communication among crew both on shift and between shifts; working with other leaders and team members in developing effective procedures and programs to maintain effective communications.

 

  • Works effectively with Team Members, consulting with HR, Department Manager, or other parties as necessary

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a related field from a four-year college or university; 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous leadership experience required.

 

  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

  • Reasoning Ability: : Ability to define and solve  problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Knowledge of manufacturing software preferred.

 

  • Leader Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning , assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme heat. Salary Range $88,000.00 - $132,000.00
