Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Regional Supply Chain Specialist - Change Management and Excellence.  The Senior Supply Chain specialist will lead and drive change and optimization initiatives in Supply Chain processes across the region promoting operational excellence, ensuring the identification of best practices in the industry, its implementation and alignment with other areas of the organization and strategic suppliers.

The role will be responsible for identifying improvement opportunities, developing projects to increase efficiency, improve performance of the Supply chain, promote necessary changes across the region, and driving best practices by providing support to SC operational teams in achieving the operational targets when needed.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead assessments of Supply Chain processes and their interaction with other areas of the operation and suppliers to identify opportunities that may require improvement or optimization.

  • Identify gaps in the SC processes and in the integration with other departments to suggest and drive their closure with improvement initiatives. 

  • Evaluate, negotiate and decide with stakeholders the proper Gaps’ closure, implementation of new and/or adjustments to process to ensure the engagement of all related areas or strategic suppliers.

  • Evaluate potential impacts of suggested process changes in other areas of the organization (Maintenance, Asset Management, Finance, operation, etc) to make necessary adjustments and ensure proper change management of impacted stakeholders.

  • Lead the design, structure, execute and follow-up optimization projects where improvement in Supply chain (internal and/or with external stakeholders) processes and systems are required to ensure proper interaction and positive impact in the organization’s KPIs.

  • Ensure the proper process mapping and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are aligned to the reality of the business, are used and correctly followed, and reflect the best practices across the region.

  • Manage and ensure site teams have updated Supply chain standards, policies and SOPs, implemented, communicated and reflected the improvement changes driven by the supply excellence area.

  • Promote integration, KPI management and follow-up between Supply Chain and stake holders.

  • Drive collaboration between the operational areas, strategic suppliers and Supply Chain as well as to ensure alignment inside the SC functional areas (Logistics, procurement, Warehouse, Inventory Management).

  • Define and ensure proper KPIs are defined and in place to reflect the correct process execution and adherence to Barrick’s standards.

  • Ensure alignment of the SC excellence improvement projects with the Regional and site operational targets, as well as supporting and ensuring internal alignment with the Demand Planning and Health and Safety projects.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Systems Delivery and Site Supply Operations managers to deliver adequate and accurate improvement solutions. 

  • Demonstrate awareness, commitment and compliance with Barrick Safety policies and Social Responsibility policies.

Qualifications:

 

  • Professional in Industrial engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering or related required 

  • Supply Chain Management diploma or certification: APICS (CSCP, CPIM) preferred 

  • Knowledge of Asset management, project management and continuous improvement methodologies preferred

  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain areas, Finance, Engineering in processing plant and/or Mining industry preferred

  • Knowledge of Procurement, warehousing, logistics and contracting are a strong plus preferred

  • Functional knowledge of SAP (MM, MRP management, PM preferred 

  • Other tools considered but not required: Power BI or similar dashboard and reporting tools, Microsoft Project preferred

  • Strong computer (Excel, Power Point, word), and written and verbal communication skills preferred

  • The candidate must be able to work at an industrial mine site (including wearing of personal protective equipment, climbing stairs, standing for long periods, working in tight quarters, etc) required

  • The candidate must be fluent in English. Fluent Spanish proficiency is a plus required

  • Must be able to make fast decisions related to the processes and projects under her/his responsibilities required

  • The position will require regular visits to mine sites required

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time to international sites (primarily Dominican Republic and United States but will also include ad hoc visits to other locations as required) required

  • Fluent in English. Fluent Spanish proficiency is a plus required 
  • Independent, results driven and proactive required
  • Problem solving oriented and have analytical skills required
  • Positive influence and lead teams not in their direct report required
  • Capable of working and collaborating with cross functional teams required
