Job Overview

Mayzo is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support our Operations Center in Walterboro, South Carolina. This role is heavily focused on equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and maintaining production uptime within our specialty chemical manufacturing environment.

This is not a design-heavy role — we are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with machinery, diagnosing issues on the floor, and implementing practical solutions to keep operations running efficiently.

The Mechanical Engineer will partner closely with operations and maintenance teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues, support equipment repairs and upgrades, and drive improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical equipment issues on the production floor to minimize downtime

  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions

  • Work directly with maintenance and operations teams to repair, adjust, and optimize machinery

  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability

  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new or modified equipment

  • Identify and implement practical improvements to existing equipment and processes

  • Provide hands-on support for fabrication, modifications, and mechanical repairs

  • Partner with CNC operators and maintenance technicians to support machining and equipment adjustments

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and plant procedures

  • Document repairs, modifications, and improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, plant, or industrial environment

  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical equipment, troubleshooting, and repairs

  • Ability to diagnose issues with pumps, motors, conveyors, and production machinery

  • Experience performing root cause analysis in a plant setting

  • Comfortable working on the production floor and interacting with operators and maintenance teams

  • Familiarity with fabrication, machining, or equipment modification

  • CAD experience is a plus, but not the primary focus of the role

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical, real-world solutions

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
