Position Summary: The Materials Coordinator performs under general supervision, all functions related to coordinating daily production requirements with regard to planning, procurement, and scheduling of production materials while ensuring continued adherence to customer schedules and delivery is maintained.
Compensation Range: $25.00 to $33.65 hourly
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, and internal distribution of materials and components required for production.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP or inventory management systems.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and support physical inventory processes.
- Communicate with the purchasing team regarding material shortages, delays, or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure materials are staged and delivered according to production schedules.
- Track and report on material usage, waste, and inventory variances.
- Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled according to company standards and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management and material flow.
- Work with receiving and shipping teams to ensure the timely processing of inbound and outbound materials.
- Serve as backup to the Shipping and Receiving Lead Hands when required.
- Lead scheduling and facility communication with waste suppliers.
Educational Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or college diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
- APICS certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong ERP/MRP systems knowledge, prior experience with Visual is an asset.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Five to seven years of experience in materials/purchasing-related positions.
- Working knowledge of Customs compliance.
- Ability to work independently, but also work in teams to ensure effective forecasting, product distribution, and marketing.
- Working knowledge of all applicable software MS office, Excel, and Visual ERP is an asset.
- Engage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date with information on new products and market trends, and to operate new automated sales and inventory management systems.
