The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the oversight and operational excellence of the warehousing and transportation logistics operations. This role focuses on meeting customer requirements, ensuring service levels, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire warehousing operation, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping, ensuring all activities align with customer service levels and company goals.
- Validate and implement comprehensive work standards and workflows for warehouse employees to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Mentor, coach, and develop skills among employees to foster a positive and safe work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback.
- Enforce and monitor compliance with ISO/TL 9000 & TS certification requirements, driving continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse operations.
- Deploy inventory management methodologies, ensuring accurate inventory records and effective stock rotation.
- Strategically plan and coordinate order shipments to meet customer timelines while maintaining product quality and service excellence.
- Evaluate and procure the necessary tools and equipment to maximize safety and operational efficiency within the warehouse.
- Provide ongoing support and strategic feedback to team members to elevate overall performance and achieve operational goals.
- Oversee the documentation and processing of employee incidents in accordance with company policies, including accidents, injuries, and performance issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication regarding product flow and transportation logistics.
Monitor daily and weekly labor performance against plan and adjust staffing and workflows to maintain productivity and efficiency targets.
Track, analyze, and report on operational KPIs; identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to drive results.
Manage labor scheduling and OT supporting budget adherence and optimize resource utilization.
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations and OSHA standards.
Managerial Responsibility
- Directly supervise warehouse associates and their leads, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere where productivity thrives.
Travel/Shift Requirements
- None, but flexibility may be required based on operational needs.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to walk and stand for extended periods during shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
- Ability to lift and move material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to perform tasks that involve bending, twisting, and stretching safely.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Proven leadership and management experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
- Advanced proficiency in WMS and ERP systems, with expert-level skills in MS Excel, including complex formulas and pivot tables.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions that enhance operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and motivating a diverse team.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Warehouse Management, Logistics, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in warehouse management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Recent experience within a WMS systems managed environment is preferred.
