This Manager, Warehouse position is responsible for the direct supervision of hourly employees, working leaders, and the warehouse facility. 

This position serves our 2J Supply Division, located in Dayton, OH.  



Responsibilities
  • Supervise the activities of hourly employees in the distribution center/warehouse operation.

  • Responsible for planning the work within the assigned department and effecting improved methods and procedures for greater efficiency and reducing costs.

  • Responsible for the quantity and quality of work of the assigned department, working with the employees where necessary to complete the work.

  • Coordinating work with other departments for the purpose of efficient operation.

  • Assume responsibility for proper induction, instruction, and training of employees and maintaining an adequate and well-trained work force.

  • Inspire and maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations and through knowledge of the employee handbook.

  • Responsible for meeting all schedules established for the assigned department.

  • Interpret instructions, specifications, handbook and company policies to hourly employees.

  • Responsible for the control of costs and proper maintenance of tools, machines, and other working equipment, and materials within the assigned department.

  • Maintain discipline through prompt and impartial action and enforcement of company policies and the employee handbook.

  • Serve as a liason for HR to both assist employees where appropriate and through interviewing / selection of new employees.

  • Conduct safety meetings for the purpose of training hourly employees in proper safety habits, adherence to rules of good housekeeping, and maintaining safe working conditions.

  • Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employee’s capabilities.

  • Counsel employees for the purpose of settling individual complaints or problems before they are put in as formal complaints.

  • Develop SOPs as required for Distribution Center

  • Assist with negotiation(s) of vendors for MRO supplies.                                                                  

  • Quality Assurance performance development in the Distribution Center



Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or related field. 

  • 7+ years' experience in a distribution environment

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience could suffice. 

  • Experience in supervising hourly employees.

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, teamwork, proven leadership abilities, and excellent problem solving skills.

  • Must possess superior planning, decision-making, use of staff service, and motivation skills.

  • Must possess good judgment, planning and analytical skills, with the ability to engage team members to support significant shop floor change.

  • Ability to organize and deliver effective training tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Ability to interact and work in a distribution center floor environment.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.

HOW TO STAND OUT

  • Certified lift truck experience preferred.

  • ERP system knowledge such as Oracle or SAP.

  • Experience in a unionized environment.
