General Summary
Manages and coordinates daily inpatient or outpatient activities to ensure quality patient care, cost effectiveness and customer service. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory standards
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Evaluates and recommends treatment and reporting methods for the department.
- Consults with medical, nursing and administrative staff on a regular basis to coordinate patient care.
- Monitors financial and clinical performance indicators. Acts or recommends action to improve performance in deficient areas.
- Assists the director of pulmonary with strategic planning for the respective entity (inpatient or outpatient). Acts or recommends action for implementation of goals.
- Identifies patient/client needs and develops quality programs to meet those needs. Ensures delivery of quality services for patients.
- Ensures that appropriate standards and practices are developed and met.
Common Expectations:
- Assists in preparation of the operational budget for the unit. Monitors variance against budget on an ongoing basis.
- Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).
- Communicates on a regular basis with physicians and/or practice manager to ensure integration of department with physician practice.
- Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.
- Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
QualificationsQualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Masters Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
- 3 years As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Required and
- 5 years Management experience. Required
Licenses:
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
- Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist Upon Hire Preferred
Courses and Training:
- Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) Upon Hire Preferred and
- Asthma Educator-Certified (AE-C) Upon Hire Preferred and
- Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS) Upon Hire Preferred and
- Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) Upon Hire Preferred
