MAIN ROLE:
To achieve the best procurement for Bakersfield and Tulare, maintaining service and quality . Looking for new ideas and opportunities and communicating across relevant departments. The main interface between suppliers and the business on price and relationship.

Role and Activity 

  1. Supplier negotiation. 
  2. Agreeing and managing contracts 
  3. Working with R&D team sourcing and costing materials for product briefs, creating a preferred supplier list. The buyer is the only interface for the pricing with the supplier.  
  4. liaising and managing in new contracts with Supply Chain team  
  5. Keeping up to date with current markets, influences, and opportunities  
  6. Looking for new product ideas, liaising with R&D.  
  7. Awareness of commercial impact on finished products of all materials.  
  8. Improving product margin
  9. Giving Froneri a competitive edge  
  10. Ensuring we get the best price in the market 
  11. Gathering local market information and sharing in the group.  
  12. Prices correct on ERP systems  
  13. Adheres and respects global purchasing policies. 
  14. Represent The Froneri Way of working through the behaviors and characteristics in our Operating Model and Core Values 

Measurable Outcomes  

    1. Positive buying price variance  
    2. Contracts database available.  
    3. Check and sign off product costings that meet business needs of expected margin, and control the number of new materials, and suppliers. 
    4. Supply chain department has the necessary contracts and agreements in place to operate.  
    5. Know prices and current markets.  
    6. Attend R&D meetings and weekly group buying KPI meetings.  
    7. Attends factory daily review meeting.  
    8. Visits lines in Factory at least three times a week talking to the line managers about issues and supplier performance affecting them.  
    9. Can generate costs and recipe awareness.  
    10. Weekly KPI figures measuring progress and projects

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, or related field
    • 3+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in food manufacturing, preferably dairy or frozen products
    • 3+ years of people‑management or team leadership experience
    • Proven experience sourcing food ingredients and packaging materials
    • Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills
    • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., JDE)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Professional certification: CPSM, CPIM, or CSCP
    • Experience with cold‑chain logistics and shelf‑life‑sensitive materials
    • Familiarity with sustainability and ethical sourcing initiatives
    • Experience supporting SQF, BRC, ISO, or FDA audits

      Work Environment:  

    The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.    

    The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is between $105,000 and $121,000 per year.
