Based in Princeton, NJ, the Manager, People Operations plays a critical role in driving HR operational excellence for a multi-state organization. This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling HR processes through technology, data, and continuous improvement practices. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, this critical position serves as a key catalyst in elevating the People Team from process management to a strategic powerhouse that aligns seamlessly with Convex US goals for agility, growth, and engagement. With this role comes the opportunity to contribute to building scalable processes, ensuring rock-solid compliance, and championing HR service delivery in a way that’s as innovative as Convex itself.

Key Responsibilities


HR Operations & Process Optimization
  • Lead the design, standardization, and continuous improvement of core HR processes across all states, including onboarding, offboarding, employee data management, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and policy administration
  • Identify inefficiencies and pain points within HR workflows and implement scalable, technology-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and service delivery models to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Take charge of project management for People Operations initiatives, ensuring flawless execution of day-to-day responsibilities and special projects.
  • Lead HR’s response to annual audits with confidence and precision—ensuring our documentation, systems, and processes are always audit-ready.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll accounting, reconciliations and tax compliance.
HR Technology & Systems Management
  • Serve as product owner for Convex US HR systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS, performance management, learning platforms)
  • Partner with IT and vendors to manage system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and data integrity.
  • Leverage automation, self-service tools, and digital workflows to reduce manual work and improve service delivery.
  • Ensure systems adequately support our multi-state compliance and reporting needs.
Employee Experience & Service Delivery
  • Design HR service models that prioritize clarity, responsiveness, and ease of use for employees and managers
  • Use employee feedback, HR metrics, and journey mapping to identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience
  • Establish and monitor HR service-level standards and support inquiry resolution processes
Data, Metrics & Productivity Enablement
  • Define and track HR operational metrics and KPIs (e.g., cycle times, system usage, employee inquiries, adoption rates)
  • Develop dashboards and insights that demonstrate HR’s impact on productivity, workforce effectiveness, and business outcomes
  • Support the Head of HR in transforming operational data into actionable recommendations
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure HR operational processes comply with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions capturing regulatory changes and required policy updates.
  • Maintain strong data privacy, security, and records management practices
Stakeholder Partnership & Change Management
  • Act as a strategic thought partner on operational strategy and transformation initiatives
  • Drive change management efforts related to new systems, processes, or policies to ensure adoption and success
  • Train HR team members, managers, and employees on new tools and processes

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on HR operations, systems, and process improvement
  • Experience supporting a multi-state or geographically dispersed workforce
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and HR technology ecosystems; system implementation or optimization experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. employment laws and compliance considerations
  • Proven ability to use data, metrics and AI to improve operational performance and inform decisions

Other Preferred Qualifications
