Position Summary:
The Manager, Payroll & Accounting Operations is fully responsible for end-to-end management of the semi-monthly payroll process for 150+ employees in Dayforce/Ceridian while supporting key accounting operations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and payroll compliance. The Payroll Manager partners with external consultants on multi-state tax requirements, and serves as a primary resource internal stakeholders, ensuring the stability and reliability of payroll while strengthening operational efficiency across the finance function.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
Independently manage semi-monthly payroll in Dayforce, ensuring accuracy of hours, pay rates, benefits, taxable wages, and deductions
Oversee deductions and contributions for employees, including but not limited to Federal and State tax, employee benefits, and elections
Onboard all new employees during the standard bi-weekly onboarding schedule set by the NAM
Calculate and process all pay adjustments including but not limited to new hires and terminations
Maintain employee payroll master data including new hires, terminations, tax updates, direct deposit, earnings/deductions, and status changes
Partner proactively with Dayforce consultants on tax filings, compliance issues, quarter-end and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s), and troubleshooting
Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll questions, ensuring excellent customer service and confidentiality
Maintain payroll procedures, SOPs, and internal controls to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Ensure accuracy of 401(k) employee and employer contributions and support compliance with related plan requirements and federal regulations
Accounting Operations Support
Assist with processing accounting documents including invoices, W-9s, check requests, payroll related forms, expense reimbursement reports, etc.
Support vendor maintenance including filing Form W-9s and verify banking information
Support the Controller with periodic close activities such as payroll liability reconciliations, and other recurring schedules
Prioritize and route stakeholder inquiries to accounting team members to ensure timely resolution
Directing employees to accounting resources and guidelines
Recommend process improvements to strengthen efficiency and internal controls

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
3–6 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing
Strong understanding of payroll principles, wage and hour laws, deductions, benefits taxation, and compliance requirements
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel
Experience with payroll software – Dayforce/Ceridian a plus
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong listening abilities
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quality, goal, and deadline-driven environment
Strong team player with good interpersonal relations
Salary Range: $74,000 - $82,000 annually. This salary range represents a good-faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
