Cape Smokey is a high-end real estate development company that is in the process of developing a major year-round resort and ski hill at Cape Smokey, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Cape Smokey features the first gondola in Atlantic Canada, a 16-run ski hill (with additional runs being added), and will feature a restaurant, microbrewery, and a treewalk. We are located at 38696 Cabot Trail Road, Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia, B0C 1L0, Canada.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance and Operations Manager (NOC 70012) to oversee the overall operations and maintenance of our ski hill.

This is a permanent, non-seasonal, position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for the operation of the ski hill;
• Prepare budgets for the ski hill and monitor revenues and expenses;
• Plan, organize, and direct maintenance services for the ski hill;
• Develop, implement, and manage snow making and other maintenance schedules year-round;
• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of snowmaking equipment and other machinery;
• Participate in the development of pricing and promotional strategies for Cape Smokey;
• Negotiate with suppliers for the provision of materials and supplies;
• Recruit and supervise staff, and oversee training of new staff;
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs;
• Negotiate with clients for the use of facilities for conventions, banquets, receptions and other functions;
• Lead a progressive workplace culture rooted in our company’s values.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years’ maintenance management experience at a year-round ski resort;
• College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
• Must have contracting experience;
• Must be willing to work flexible and irregular hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, due to snowmaking and equipment maintenance schedules;
• Superior communications skills;
• Analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Must have strong occupational health and safety leadership skills;
• Must be discrete and diplomatic.

Hours:

This position is a full-time, permanent, position for 40 hours per week.

Salary:

The qualified applicant will be paid an annual salary of $115,000 CAD.
