Job Description

As a Logistics Team Lead, you will be working alongside our Logistics Technician, providing day-to-day leadership and guidance. Additional responsibilities include moving hull kits, loading boats onto trailers for transport, assembling trailers, & yard organization. Regular use of an overhead hoist and operating forklifts. This position is year-round and is largely based outdoors.


What will you do?

Team Lead Specific

  • Provide leadership necessary to ensure that all product is shipped out in a safe and secure manner, meeting all legal load restrictions.
  • Ensure the Logistics team is following all required safety procedures.
  • Ensure daily forklift inspections are completed and required WORF forms are submitted to Maintenance.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or act to the supervisor, Human Resources, or Production Manager.
  • Ensure minimum quantity of safety activities forms are filled out and submitted.
  • Ensure the working environment is organized and maintained to optimize space and efficiency.
  • Ensure tools are available and in good working condition as required to fulfill job duties.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the team.
  • Complete quality inspections and documentation in Job books.
  • Develop and maintain training and onboarding manual.
  • Manage departmental communication and set priorities daily.
  • Ensure proper towing/lifting equipment is always followed. 


Logistics Specific

  • Arrange and assist with all outgoing logistics including:
  • Load boats onto assigned trailers and perform QC inspections as outlined.
  • Load completed boat/trailer units onto transport trucks as designated.
  • Complete transport documentation as outlined by company procedure.
  • Manage Trailer inventory and storage: 
  • Inspection of trailer assembly to meet specifications.
  • Ensure safe unloading and movement of trailer stacks.
  • Ensure the trailer build schedule is followed to meet production.
  • Ensure proper tagging and allocation of designated trailers.
  • Perform light facility and yard maintenance duties including:
  • General cleaning of yard and surrounding area. 
  • Ensure the yard is in safe condition for all weather conditions. 
  • Maintain yard organization by ensuring all products are placed in a tidy manner. 
  • Transport hulls, hull kits, parts, and other items around the facility between departments.
  • Unloading trucks with incoming and outgoing freight as requested.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes/chain hoists as required.
  • Responsible for specified facility lockup.
  • Other duties as requested.
  • Follow all applicable KingFisher Boats and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

 

What do you need to succeed?

  • Previous experience leading/managing a team.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Previous forklift and overhead crane experience or certification is required.
  • Ability to review, analyze and interpret data from different sources.
  • Knowledge of tools and procedures used in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.

Working Conditions

  • Year-round outside work.
  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, toxic materials which may cause periods of discomfort, high noise levels.
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing or seeing to work being performed.
  • Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.


Schedule/Shifts

  • Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
