The purpose of this position is to fill and receive orders for various departments and carry out activities of warehouse and purchasing functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains inventory by monitoring computer inventory system, controlling inventory items, and ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing materials and supplies.
- Organizes stock and merchandise by loading, unloading, storing, and labeling items, receiving shipments and reporting discrepancies, and researching availability and price of stocked items.
- Performs courier duties by making post office runs, distributing mail and purchased equipment to uptown offices, and performing related tasks.
- Maintains warehouse by enforcing rules and procedures, preventing unauthorized access, and performing basic custodial duties and repair tasks.
- Performs duties associated with the City’s barcoding inventory system.
- Operates heavy equipment, fork lifts.
- Assists with annual audited inventory process.

Job Specifications and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Inventory maintenance practices and procedures;
- Modern warehouse principles and practices.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Ability to obtain a Forklift Certification. Failure to obtain within six (6) months of hire may result in termination.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 -50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
- Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.
