Position Overview
DG Global Grain is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to manage the execution of domestic and cross-border contracts for our trading group. In this role, you will serve as the key link between suppliers, transportation providers, and customers, ensuring all contractual obligations are executed accurately, efficiently, and profitably.
This is a fast-paced, operational role that requires strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills. The successful candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and takes ownership of logistics execution from contract inception through final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Execution
- Oversee the execution of domestic and cross-border purchase and sales contracts.
- Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, and customers to ensure all terms and conditions are met as agreed.
- Proactively manage issues related to timing, documentation, or delivery requirements to minimize disruptions and financial exposure.
Freight & Logistics Management
- Source and hire trucking and logistics services for grain transportation.
- Negotiate freight rates and transport terms to optimize margins and capitalize on geographic arbitrage opportunities.
- Monitor freight performance and resolve transportation-related issues as they arise.
Scheduling & Delivery Coordination
- Schedule and manage grain deliveries into elevators and to end-users.
- Coordinate directly with suppliers and logistics partners to align delivery timing with operational and contractual requirements.
- Ensure adherence to delivery windows, grade specifications, and customer-specific instructions.
Inventory Tracking & Analysis
- Perform daily analysis of open purchase and sales contract balances.
- Track shipment status, inventory positions, and outstanding commitments to keep operations on schedule.
- Identify variances and escalate risks or discrepancies in a timely manner.
Customer & Partner Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, suppliers, transporters, and customers.
- Respond promptly to requests for information, documentation, and delivery updates.
- Maintain strong working relationships through clear, professional communication.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with trading and merchant teams to align logistics execution with commercial strategies.
- Produce weekly internal activity and status reports covering freight, contract execution, and delivery performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of logistics processes and execution workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven negotiation skills, particularly related to freight rates or service terms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced trading or logistics environment.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail for tracking contract balances, freight costs, and delivery obligations.
- High level of organization, accountability, and problem-solving capability.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in logistics, supply chain coordination, commodities trading, or agricultural operations.
- Exposure to domestic and cross-border transportation and contracts.
- Familiarity with grain handling, commodities logistics, or freight markets is considered an asset.
