Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for department pickup and delivery of orders and materials from vendors, customers and couriers in a timely and organized manner. The Logistics Coordinator will coordinate and manage workload to meet customer requirements while achieving optimum department productivity. The Logistics Coordinator along with their team is a main interface with our customers and must provide a competent and personable representation of the company.
Compensation:
$20.00/hr - $25.00/hr based on experience
Key Responsibilities
General and Administrative
- Coordinate with the Production Team, Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and other staff to prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
- Comply with all OHSA safety requirements and Company’s health and safety policies.
- Participate as a key player in the Production Team by supporting operations as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor, other members of the Production Team informing and updating them regularly to meet customer’s requirements.
- Follow systems and procedures outlined in the Corporate Policy Manual.
Shipping/ Receiving/ Transportation Operations
- Coordinate with the Production and Shipping Team to schedule daily deliveries & customer pick- ups, prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
- Monitoring general activities in the shipping/receiving department.
- Acting as a point of contact for suppliers, brokers and carriers.
- Coordinate with the production team on completion of job orders.
- Load or assist customers in loading goods as required.
- Coordinate and control shipments with external carriers.
- Process shipping / receiving documents.
- Serve internal and external customers with shipping inquiries.
- Handle inquiries regarding inbound / outbound shipments.
- Maintain inventory control of supplies.
- Assist in direct receiving from couriers.
- Setting up deliveries/orders for trailers and completing all necessary paperwork.
- Ensure all products shipped are counted in the shipping process.
- Ensure all products received are counted in the receiving process.
- Identify issues that may arise and resolve the issues before and after items are shipped.
- Operating and maintaining system for setting up and maintaining records of orders.
- Constant communication between departments when stock is received.
- Troubleshooting any logistical issues that arise.
- Facilitate logistics of the facility, transportation, and customer service.
- Operate forklift equipment to move shipments and supplies when necessary.
- Receive product goods and check packing slips to check for any damages and incorrect items.
- Update the packing slides into Netsuite.
- Store inventory into the designated zones for proper storage.
- Conduct inventory counting of supplies.
- Assist the department in managing the purchases of supplies.
- Manage documents related to inventory and coordinate to make purchases.
- Conduct daily inventory checks and report to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.
- Check the dashboard and fill up the manufacturing zones with required inventory.
- Maintain knowledge of safety requirements of job and equipment.
- Operate assigned equipment/machine in accordance with operating procedures.
- Ensure the completion of all duties with minimum of waste and abuse to equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Labeling Operations
- Responsible and assisting with job preparations/productions of print materials noted on the docket.
- Performs quality checks at required intervals throughout shift (i.e., correct product, label, label application).
- Identify any inconsistencies and errors of products prior to labeling for shipment.
- Put boxes into appropriate areas ready for shipment to be picked up by various couriers.
- Ensure a high quality product is consistently and efficiently produced while minimizing waste.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment and Supplies
- Clean and maintain equipment and work area following maintenance procedures and update maintenance logs.
- Understand and perform all troubleshooting procedures on the equipment.
- Monitor and manage inventory of supplies.
- Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
Key Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with experience or vocational/technical certification. Post Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse and shipping/receiving environment.
- 2+ years of forklift license and experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and with little direction in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills e.g. working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
- Strong computer skills.
- Good written, verbal and mathematical skills.
- Ability to multitask and track different processes.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
