Legal Operations Paralegal

Reports to: General Counsel

MPRBrands - Del Mar, CA

Role Summary

This role sits at the center of the legal department’s day-to-day operations, owning intake, workflow management, and administrative execution across franchise, contracts, compliance, and litigation support. The position is designed to maximize attorney efficiency, reduce outside counsel spend, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks in a fast-moving, multi-brand environment.


Core Responsibilities:

Legal Intake & Workflow Management

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all legal requests across the organization
  • Manage and administer the legal matter system :
  • Intake routing
  • Matter creation and tracking
  • Task assignments and deadlines
  • Running reports and deadline management
  • Triage requests based on urgency, risk, and business impact
  • Ensure business needs are met and follow up with stakeholders proactively
  • Identify repeat request patterns and recommend workflow standardization

Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM Support)

  • Administer the end-to-end contract process, including:
  • Intake and request clarification
  • Template selection and population
  • Version control and document management
  • Signature coordination (e.g., DocuSign)
  • Maintain and organize the contract repository
  • Track key terms, renewal dates, and termination windows
  • Flag non-standard terms or risk issues to attorneys
  • Support development and rollout of template agreements and playbooks

Franchise & Regulatory Support

  • Assist with FDD updates and annual renewals:
  • Track deadlines and required inputs
  • Compile exhibits and supporting documentation as needed
  • Maintain compliance calendars across all jurisdictions
  • Track franchise agreements, amendments, and franchisee documentation
  • Support franchise disclosure processes and document distribution tracking

Intellectual Property Administration

  • Maintain trademark portfolio tracker across all brands:
  • Filing deadlines
  • Renewals
  • Office action tracking
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on filings and enforcement matters
  • Track licensing agreements and usage rights
  • Monitor for potential infringement issues and escalate as needed

Litigation & Outside Counsel Management Support

  • Maintain a centralized litigation tracker detailing case status, key deadlines, budget tracking
  • Coordinate document collection and internal information gathering
  • Manage legal hold processes and document preservation
  • Review and process outside counsel invoices as needed

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintain and track compliance obligations, including:
  • CCPA/privacy requirements
  • Corporate filings
  • Regulatory deadlines
  • Support implementation of policies and training programs
  • Assist with internal audits and compliance reviews

Reporting & Legal Operations Optimization

  • Maintain reporting for:
  • Contract volume and cycle times
  • Legal request trends
  • Outside counsel spend
  • Identify inefficiencies
  • Support implementation of automation tools and legal tech
  • Drive standardization across legal workflows

General Legal & Administrative Support

  • Prepare basic legal documents and correspondence
  • Maintain organized digital and physical legal files
  • Support board and executive meeting materials as needed
  • Assist with special projects, including M&A diligence support


Qualifications:

Required

  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal operations professional
  • Strong familiarity with:
  • Contract management processes
  • Legal document handling and organization
  • High proficiency with systems (e.g., LawVu, Ironclad, DocuSign, Excel)

Preferred

  • Experience with franchise systems or multi-unit businesses
  • Exposure to IP management (trademarks)
  • Experience supporting in-house legal teams
  • Experience with legal billing and outside counsel coordination
  • Familiarity with privacy/compliance tracking frameworks

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid role with an average of three in-office days per week
  • Collaborative team environment with both in-person and remote work 



Compensation: 

  • Base Salary ($90k-$110k based on experience) + Bonus (5-10%)

Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, and phones. This position operates in person at our Del Mar headquarters, and 3+ days per week in person is required.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
