Overview

Bowhead seeks a Part-Time Junior Logistician/Logistics Specialist to support the Architect of the Capitol’s (AOC) Emergency Management program. Duties for this position will be performed on-site on Capitol Hill campus grounds in Washington, D.C. and be scheduled to work as early as 6:00 am, or as late as 6:00 pm

 

Responsibilities

• Provides a full range of logistical and supply chain management support across the Capitol Complex on behalf of the Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO).
• Coordinate with the Warehouse Inventory Manager and engage with clients on Capitol Hill and throughout the National Capitol Region for the sourcing and delivery of supplies.
• Monitor equipment and supply levels at all warehouses, reporting to supervisors for re-ordering or to schedule servicing.
• Perform and coordinate physical inventory functions, reconcile inventory, and monitor custodial balances, ensuring accuracy and consistency and recommending adjustments to correct imbalances.
• Coordinate actions between maintenance, inventory control, quality control and quality assurance to maintain current and accurate stock balances.
• Work with other vendors and contractors on maintenance actions for vehicles and other items requiring servicing.
• Use Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), leased heavy equipment, and other vehicles for tasks such as towing, hauling, pushing, pulling, forklift operations, or driving materials and/or personnel in response to changing requirements.
• Maintain accountable property records for all equipment used by the Government.
• Establish and maintain production statistics, to evaluate inventory progress, including vehicles and equipment awaiting repair.
• Coordinate shipping with all contractors for vehicle maintenance or equipment under warranty from the source of supply.
• Determine requirements and schedule to ensure necessary equipment is readily available for both regular and special use projects.
• Provide resource estimates to the Program Manager, receive and inspect incoming and outgoing stock, schedule deliveries, assist warehouse supervisor, assist with inventory control, recommend stocking/warehousing levels, process supply system requests, reconcile source data and property record balances after physical inventories.
• Compile supply requirements information, and maintain stock levels, ensuring adequate lead time, availability, storage or staging space.
• Document requirements for the purchase, storage, and transfer of equipment.
• Maintain inventory control records for equipment assets in automated system.
• Report all loss, theft, damage, destruction of assets, and collects necessary data for reporting to the PM.
• Correct errors stock recording or equipment identification and input corrected data into the automated inventory database with proper location details.
• Monitor available information feeds and distribute that information as directed by government leads.
• Provide on-call, surge support to AOC OCSO and/or the AOC EOC for planned or unplanned events when called upon by the government
• Supports and performs regular maintenance of AOC vehicles and property.
• Supports ad-hoc supply/deliver requests on short-notice during the duty-day.
• When not engaged in logistics support activities, serves as a “watch stander” in AOC’s interim Emergency Operations Center, providing situational awareness briefings and reports, and triaging open-source information to enhance the situational awareness of AOC leadership and staff.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• HS graduate minimum. AA/AS in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in logistics, managing, coordinating and maintaining inventory of assets.

• Must be CDL certified. HAZMAT and passenger transportation certifications are a plus.
• Must demonstrate experience safely operating Government Furnished and leased heavy equipment and vehicles and ability to tow, haul, push, pull, forklift, or drive materials and/or personnel in rapid response to ever changing requirements.
• Be familiar with operational and logistical support requirements for exercises, events, and mobilizations.
• Possess solid analytical skills and be able to operate in a demanding environment while executing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must possess professional candor, lateral and hierarchical accountability, and drive toward a unified mission.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Obtain a favorable screening/background check from United States Capitol Police (USCP) (Form CP-491) prior to starting work.  Full time employment may begin after obtaining a favorable screening/background check from United States Capitol Police. Your continued employment will be contingent upon maintaining it through the duration of your employment.
