We are seeking a Jr. Buyer for a maternity/parental leave contract, with a targeted start date in mid April. As a Jr. Buyer at Waterville TG Inc., located in Petrolia, Ontario, you will provide daily support to the Petrolia and Corporate Teams. You will be responsible for day-to-day purchase of goods and services for the facility, manage and maintain Stores inventory, and support various corporate initiatives for the business.

This position is a Temporary Contract, Full-Time (approximately 40 hrs/week) role, estimated to be of 12–18 months for a maternity/parental leave replacement. Employment will end upon the return of the incumbent employee or at the end of the leave period, whichever occurs first.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Purchase of goods and services for the Ontario plant and for certain corporate commodities
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels in Petrolia, including reviewing the need for Stores materials to assist with cost reductions, and participating in the annual inventory count for Stores
  • Review requisition specifications to ensure sufficient information for quotes and purchases
  • Conduct supplier follow-ups to ensure “on time” delivery, including expediting as necessary
  • Conduct vendor performance reviews annually
  • Manage products in the vending machine system with supplier, report on consumption levels, and work with management on maintaining products and associated cost flows
  • Provide assistance to Accounts Payable as required
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports as required

Requirements

  • College Diploma or Equivalent in Business, Accounting and / or Purchasing is required
  • Purchasing designation achieved or in progress is an asset
  • 3 years of purchasing (buyer) and / or accounting related work experience is preferred, preferably in an industrialized setting

Critical Competencies and Skills

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills are required
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deal with frequent interruptions and customer requests is required
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiative
  • Proficient computer skills are required, specifically in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, SAP and Lotus Notes

Compensation

Temporary Contract, Pay Range $27.50/hr-$29.00/hr, commensurate with previous experience
