Job Summary:
The IT Operations Manager will be responsible for the reliability, security, and efficiency of our internal and client-facing infrastructure hosted entirely in Azure. This role bridges the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution, ensuring that our IT operations not only support an organization of 100+ people globally, but also strictly adhere to ISO 27001 and GovRAMP standards. You will lead a small, agile team of four to maintain a secure and productive "zero-trust" environment where our physical offices serve as collaborative meeting hubs while our production assets remain secure in the cloud. Build, own and improve.
Key Objectives:
- Operational Excellence: Maintain 99.9% availability for Azure-hosted infrastructure and development environments.
- Team Mentorship: Elevate the technical capabilities of the IT team (Specialists and Generalists) through structured workflows, IT service desk management and
professional development.
- Compliance Leadership: Successfully navigate the expansion of the existing ISO 27001 certification to include GovRAMP compliance, ensuring all operational
activities and controls are documented, implemented, and audited.
- Security Integration: Partner with the Director, IT and Information Security to embed security into every operational process, moving from reactive
troubleshooting to proactive risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the administration of our Azure environment, including virtual networks, identity management (Entra ID), and
resource scaling to support software development lifecycles.
- Team Leadership: Manage the daily activities of 2 IT Specialists and 2 IT Generalists, setting performance goals and managing escalated technical issues.
- Incident & Problem Management: Lead the response to operational outages or security incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is performed and documented for
compliance purposes, and improvements implemented.
- Vendor & Asset Management: Manage relationships with cloud service providers and hardware vendors, ensuring all assets are tracked and decommissioned
according to NIST 800-53 standards.
- Process Automation: Identify opportunities to automate routine IT tasks (e.g.,onboarding/offboarding, patching, and backups) to increase team efficiency.
- Compliance & Audit: Act as the primary operational lead for GovRAMP and ISO 27001 audits; maintaining and collecting ongoing evidence to support compliance
through daily activities.
Skills:
- Cloud Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of Azure infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS) and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Compliance Knowledge: Practical experience implementing NIST 800-53 controls; familiarity with the GovRAMP (formerly StateRAMP) or FedRAMP
authorization process.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage a small technical team in a fast-paced reactive software development environment. Experience making the move from
startup culture to structured, documented ITIL based environment.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear documentation for auditors and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: A "security-first" mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud networking and identity issues.
Candidates are likely to have one or more of the following Certifications:
