Overview

Position Summary 

The Inventory Control Clerk, New Car is responsible for supporting the accurate tracking, documentation, and organization of all new vehicle inventory within the dealership. This role assists with the intake, system entry, movement, and presentation of new vehicles while ensuring all processes align with OEM standards and dealership procedures. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced automotive environment. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with receiving new vehicles, verifying VINs, equipment, damage, and required documentation.
  • Enter and update new vehicle information in the dealership management system (DMS) with complete accuracy. 
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory records across internal systems and online retailing tools.
  • Support lot organization by tracking vehicle locations, coordinating moves, and ensuring proper display of new vehicles.
  • Conduct regular lot audits to confirm vehicle counts, condition, and placement.
  • Assist with window labeling, stock tagging, and other merchandising activities to support sales readiness. 
  • Prepare inventory sheets, reports, and communications for management and sales teams.
  • Coordinate with Service, Detail, and Sales teams to ensure new vehicles are prepped, PDI completed, and frontline ready. 
  • Maintain accurate filing and documentation related to new vehicle inventory processes. 
  • Uphold OEM standards and dealership policies regarding safety, compliance, and workflow procedures. 
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.

 Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in automotive operations, inventory control, or administrative support preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including DMS platforms and standard office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.). 
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and follow established procedures.
  • Comfortable working outdoors as needed and moving vehicles around the lot.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
