DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct routine cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies
- Analyze counting results and collaborate with the inventory team to resolve issues
- Develop and implement cycle counting procedures to improve inventory accuracy
- Maintain accurate records of cycle count findings and update inventory management systems.
- Perform manual stock adjustments in the inventory management system based on findings from cycle counts & self identified audits
- Assist in training staff on best practices for inventory management and cycle counting
- Identify trends in inventory discrepancies and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to meet customers needs
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards in the warehouse
- Perform root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Assess, document and process/claim damaged and defective products
- Identify, investigate, correct shipping errors to and from branch transfer
- Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion
- Other duties as required
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track and manage inventory levels, ensuring records are correct
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain an orderly inventory system
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with inventory management software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, WMS)
- Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to troubleshoot and resolve inventory issues efficiently
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate with team members and other departments
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills for calculations related to stock levels, counts, and adjustments
- Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with other departments, such as procurement and sales
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing inventory needs and processes
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time
Qualifications & Education:
- Minimum grade 12 education required
- Minimum two years warehouse experience an asset
- Experience using Microsoft Office an asset
- Knowledge of the plumbing/electrical/heating industry or a background in plumbing/electrical/heating products would be considered an asset
