Job Summary
The Inventory Accounting Workstream Lead plays a critical role in the successful implementation of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (“D365 F&O)” by leading the inventory accounting workstream related activities across all phases of the implementation project. This role serves as the primary liaison between the VP Finance, finance business stakeholders and the project team, ensuring that inventory accounting requirements and business processes are accurately scoped, designed, configured, tested, and adopted within the new D365 F&O solution. Inventory accounting subject matter experts and business analysts will be supporting the workstream leader to design future state business processes, test and migrate data to the new solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Accounting Workstream Leadership:
- Lead the inventory accounting workstream throughout the project phases. E.g., discovery and scoping, design, build, test, deploy, and hyper care
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, finance and accounting, supply chain, HR, and IT to ensure alignment and integration
- Design and create an inventory accounting operational metric-based team, delivering inventory accounting metrics throughout the implementation project
- Drive inventory accounting leadership and leverage automation expertise to resolve as-is and future state risks and issues.
- Requirements Gathering & Solution Design:
- Partner with the Solution Integrator (“Amicis) to facilitate workshops with Inventory accounting, finance, and other stakeholders to gather business requirements during discovery scoping and implementation solution design phases of the project
- Translate Pet Valu business needs into tailored Pet Value functional specifications and validate against D365 F&O capabilities, with support from Amicis, cross-functional workstream team members, and external project subject matter experts
- Collaborate with solution architects and consultants to design a scalable inventory accounting solution
- Design, review, and understand business process and change implications for workstream configurations, extensions, and integrations impacting finance.
- Configuration & Testing:
- Responsible for reviewing and accepting all workstream deliverables
- Work with the project business process workstream leader and Amicis to oversee the configuration of D365 F&O modules (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Budgeting, etc.)
- Develop and execute test scenarios and scripts for unit testing, system integration testing (“SIT”), and user acceptance testing (“UAT”).
- Ensure workstream defects are tracked, resolved, and tested.
- Lead data cleansing and migration, with support from the Program Data workstream leader.
- Ensure data migration and reconciliation activities are accurate and complete.
- Change Management & Training:
- Support change management efforts by identifying impacts to inventory accounting, finance, and other finance and operational teams and processes as required.
- Work with the Change Management workstream leaders to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead the workstream in creating inventory accounting business process training materials and delivering training sessions to users.
- Go-Live & Post-Implementation Support:
- Lead inventory accounting data deployment, with support from the Program Data workstream leader.
- Support data migration activities and cutover planning for the D365 F&O solution.
- Provide hyper care support post go-live and ensure smooth transition to business-as-usual operations.
- Project Governance & Reporting:
- With support from the Program Management Office, provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and issue resolution plans to project leadership.
- Ensure deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Required D365 F&O inventory accounting implementation and operational experience, or experience with other Tier 1 ERP inventory accounting solutions
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, finance and accounting, and finance operations principles.
- Demonstrated project implementation experience with managing inventory accounting and inventory and product master data management, data cleansing, and data migration.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Completed at least 2 Inventory accounting or inventory transformation projects over the past 5+ years
- Experience with business process re-engineering and Six Sigma is preferred and would be an asset
