Innovation Manager (Merchandising and Supply Chain Systems)

This position is hybrid working 3 days a week from our Legacy West Support Cener located in Plano Texas.

About the role

This is a hybrid position working from our Legacy West Support Center in Plano, Texas. The Enterprise Innovation Manager - Merchandising and Supply Chain, is instrumental in taking new ideas and cultivating them into positive outcomes. Innovation Managers help create a culture of innovation and are involved in shaping the processes needed for forward movement across the Enterprise. The ideal candidate should have strong business knowledge in a retail environment working across multiple business models (B2B, B2C, Ecommerce, and brick & mortar).  The candidate should have a solid background in Merchandising and/or Supply Chain. Experience in project delivery from idea formulation through final project delivery is also desired. The Innovation manager will be required to work across IT disciplines and business units to formulate ideas and deliver projects in the Merchandising and Supply Chain spaces.

Responsibilities

50% Project Discovery

  • Shephard Leadership / SMEs / Business and Application Owners / Vendors in the identification of business needs, storylines, and development of problem statements, business rules and measurements for strategic initiatives.
  • Define and manage the overall scope of an initiative gaining appropriate signoff from affected stakeholders.
  • Lead the definition of high-level requirements and work across IT teams and vendor partners to develop timelines and cost estimates to complete projects.
  • Assist Leadership with building business case and preparing for funding approvals and various stage gating processes.
  • Ensure all aspects of delivery and solutioning are accounted for prior to execution of a project by ensuring requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle process and keeping stakeholders apprised of changes to scope.

40% Project Delivery

  • Plays an active role during the delivery cycle of projects. This may involve direct project/program management of projects or oversight of projects brought through the discovery process.
  • Management of budget vs actuals, timelines, and resource planning for assigned projects.

10% Create Partnerships

  • Create partnerships with Key Leaders and stakeholders throughout the enterprise to identify SME’s and customers (Digital, Solution Delivery, Infrastructure & Ops leaders).

 

Knowledge, skills & abilities requirements

  • Degree in a relevant subject or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Project Management Institution (PMI) certification or similar certification preferred.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a combination of business systems development, general business, and project management
  • A proven track record of managing complex Programs across multiple business units.
  • Skilled at creating executive level presentations and summaries.
  • Experience with development and execution of uses cases, business benefit capture and realization.
  • Demonstrated experience with SDLC, Lean Six Sigma, TQM, ITIL, etc. 
  • Experience in gaining group consensus and prioritization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the areas of Merchandising and/or Supply Chain business areas.

 Working conditions & physical requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
