Role Summary
The Head of Engineering North America will provide strategic leadership for Huhtamaki North America engineering , involving setting the technical vision, improving equipment safety and performance, managing the engineering and equipment manufacturing teams, and ensuring capital projects discipline. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing engineering processes, managing budgets and timelines, hiring and developing talent, and collaborating with other departments like operations mgt, product mgt, and NA leadership. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team and Talent management: Lead, manage, and mentor engineering teams, establish hiring processes, and foster an inclusive culture with technical growth opportunities.
- Technical Strategy and Execution: Define technical vision, OEM strategies, and ensure the delivery of high quality and reliable equipment/products
- Project Management: Develop and oversee budgets and timelines to ensure capital projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Process and Quality Improvement: Develop and implement engineering solutions and processes to improve quality and efficiency, including setting standard practices.
- Cross functional collaboration: Work with Heads of operations, product management, and NA leadership to align engineering resources with overall business objectives.
Key skills
- Strategic thinking: The ability to develop long-term technical plans and align them with overall business goals.
- Leadership and management: Strong skills in mentoring, team-building, and inspiring high performance.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of manufacturing experience.
- At least 5 years of manufacturing managerial experience.
- Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical engineering degree or related field.
- Food packaging experience is preferred.
