JOB SUMMARY
This is a Crew position with the Logistics team of Gate Perimeter and Exodus and is largely responsible for the implementation of logistical tasks assigned by the Logistics Manager. The Logistics Crew performs manual labor during set up and strike of the Black Hole, Gate Road, and all of the operational areas within GPE Operations.
This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt role, based in Black Rock City, Nevada running from August to September, 2026.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties (95%)
- Survey all infrastructure to be placed, build fence (floppy flag and orange fencing), build lots, move light towers, maintain Gate Road, build BRC shade, build porto shade, support Black Hole bar build, and containers.
- Maintain and repair Gate, Black Hole and Point One operational areas and infrastructure during pre-event and event week.
- Stage and relocate equipment.
- Deconstruction of infrastructure. Return equipment and assist with general strike duties.
- Assist with building Gate Road, Gate, lots, and Black Hole.
- Assist other departments with significant projects such as, but not limited to, fence day and building city intersections.
- Assist with maintaining GPE logistical needs during events at the Gate, Point 1, Black Hole, and along Gate Road.
- Help ensure crew colleagues are following safety protocols.
- Attends daily logistics morning meetings.
- Attends a post-season debrief.
- Regularly read emails from Gate, Perimeter and Exodus department email lists, particularly the gate-staff-list and gate-announce, to keep updated with department planning and policies.
- Stay current on all mandatory training.
Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.
- A strong background in construction or logistics operational procedures.
- Construction design and implementation skills.
- Ability to safely work with power tools.
- Experience managing crews.
- Ability, and willingness, to self-resolve interpersonal conflicts.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.
- Ability to think critically and problem-solve.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to think clearly and remain calm under high-pressure situations.
- Ability to stand for long hours and work in extreme climate conditions.

- Dedicated to Standards of Behavior and principles and ethics of the Burning Man organization.
PREFERRED
- It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture.
- Minimum 2 years working with a Burning Man Department.
- Minimum 1 year working Setup/Strike.
- Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by Burning Man’s insurance company.
- Intimate knowledge of GPE Logistical needs and the means to implement them.
- Basic Construction design and implementation skills.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
COMPENSATION:
Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated pay rate for this position is $16.50 to $18 per hour.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Off-playa: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.

On-playa: This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing. This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance. Work will include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation. Much of the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles as well as possible extremes in temperature.
