The Fixed Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the profitability, operational efficiency, and strategic development of all service and parts departments across the dealership group. This position works closely with executive leadership and dealership-level management to implement best practices, optimize performance, and deliver exceptional customer service across all fixed ops functions.


Compensation: $200,000-$300,000/year


Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to Service, Parts, and Collision departments across all dealership locations.
  • Develop and execute standardized operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across all stores.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) including labor gross profit, parts sales, absorption rates, technician productivity, and customer retention.
  • Collaborate with dealership General Managers and Fixed Ops Managers to set performance goals and drive accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer programs, warranty guidelines, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives for fixed operations personnel, including technicians, advisors, and managers.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts related to parts procurement, service equipment, and software tools.
  • Oversee customer satisfaction initiatives and implement process improvements to drive CSI and Net Promoter Scores.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor practices to remain ahead of industry changes and innovations.
  • Participate in capital planning for facility upgrades, shop expansions, and equipment investments.
  • Develop and manage the corporate fixed ops budget and forecast performance across stores.
  • Support dealership expansion efforts, including due diligence and integration of acquired stores' fixed ops teams.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive fixed operations, with 5+ years in a senior or multi-store management role.
  • Proven ability to manage P&L statements and drive profitability across service and parts departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to management.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Experience with DMS platforms (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, etc.) and service scheduling software.
  • Deep knowledge of automotive service processes, warranty administration, and manufacturer compliance.
