Reporting to the Manager of Electric Distribution Operations, the Electric Operations Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules for the electric distribution operations, including preventative maintenance, asset replacements and third party servicing. This full-time role requires 2,080 working hours annually and requires close and cross functional collaboration with internal Utility Distribution System personnel, including engineering, operations, control room, and customer service to support utility objectives and regulatory compliance.

Your key responsibilities

  • Collaborate and build strong cross functional relationships with internal work groups, including engineering, operation, control room, customer service and inspection teams.
  • Manage multi-stage schedules and coordinate service connections, upgrades, outages, and capital projects.
  • Develop and coordinate work plans for preventative maintenance, asset replacement and capital projects.
  • Analyze inspection data to identify and recommend asset replacement, working closely with engineering and operations teams to align on priorities.
  • Track progress, update forecasts and prepare other documentation for projects and other weekly activity.

What you bring

  • Expert technical knowledge of Power Line Technician trade, including, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution networks, service design and utility infrastructure across low, medium and high voltage.
  • Committed to working safely and promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and professional relationships across sub departments, external partners, contractors and the public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to adapt communication strategies to different audiences and situations, including operational tasks, and emergency coordination.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness in assisting to establish and achieve goals and objectives for the department.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new technologies and software programs.
  • Ability to work in the field environment including exposure to extreme weather conditions, uneven terrain and construction zones.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Journeyman Power Line Technician Red Seal Trade Certificate or certification as an Electrical Engineering Technologist.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the construction, operation, and maintenance of urban Electric Distribution Systems – including transmission and distribution infrastructure, network systems, and street lighting.
  • Electrical Utility Safety Codes Officer or ability to obtain.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation.
  • Possess and maintain a current Class 5 Alberta motor vehicle operator's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
