The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, District 8, seeks a skilled and dedicated District Materials & Pavement Manager to join our dynamic team. In this essential role, you will offer expert technical guidance and support for highways and bridges across our construction, design, and maintenance divisions. In this position, you will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support related to construction materials and pavement design, while also addressing concerns regarding construction and maintenance materials. Your duties will include reviewing clearance transmittals and overseeing the District's Materials Unit and Pavement Section, which focus on testing and controlling materials utilized in construction and maintenance projects. Additionally, you will manage the district's pavement engineering and design functions, resolve complex project challenges, and offer expert guidance on technical issues. This role also requires directing the inspection, testing, and control of various construction materials, ensuring accurate documentation of procedures and results, investigating rejected materials, and preparing reports to address any quality assurance discrepancies. A significant aspect of your responsibilities will involve participating in the review and approval of mix designs for different materials.
