Position: Director of Supply Chain
Reports To: President

The Director of Supply Chain for First Tactical, LLC., is responsible for leading the company’s end-to-end supply chain strategy and execution, including procurement, demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and cross-functional coordination with Sales, Finance and Operations. This role ensures product availability, inventory accuracy, cost efficiency, and scalable processes to support company growth. This position also leads the inventory team and supports operational execution through strong planning discipline, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
· Develop and lead the company’s supply chain strategy to support growth, profitability, and customer service goals.
· Oversee end-to-end supply chain functions, including procurement, demand planning, supply planning, inventory control, and replenishment.
· Build scalable processes, KPIs, and operating rhythms to improve supply chain performance.
· Lead, mentor, and develop the inventory and supply chain team; establish clear goals, accountability, and performance expectations.
· Drive cross-functional alignment between Sales, Operations, Finance, and Product teams on demand, supply, and inventory priorities
Procurement & Vendor Management
· Lead procurement strategy for materials, finished goods, and operational supplies, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and continuity of supply.
· Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, lead times, pricing, and service performance.
· Partner with vendors and manufacturers to improve forecasting visibility, production planning, and on-time delivery.
· Identify supply risks and implement mitigation strategies, including alternate sourcing and contingency planning.
Planning, Forecasting & Demand Management
· Own demand planning and forecasting processes in collaboration with Sales and key stakeholders.
· Translate sales projections, historical trends, seasonality, promotions, and market intelligence into actionable supply plans.
· Lead S&OP / cross-functional planning processes (or equivalent) to align inventory buys, production timing, and customer demand.
· Monitor forecast accuracy and bias; implement improvements to planning assumptions, tools, and communication cadence.
· Develop inventory and replenishment strategies by product category.
Inventory Leadership
· Oversee inventory planning and control to maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory.
· Lead inventory team operations, including cycle count processes, reconciliation support, inventory accuracy initiatives, and reporting.
· Establish and monitor inventory KPIs such as turns, fill rate, backorders, stockouts, aging inventory, and forecast-to-actual variance.
Sales & Operations Partnership
· Partner closely with Sales to understand pipeline activity, customer programs, promotions, and demand shifts.
· Support Operations by aligning material/product availability with production, fulfillment, and distribution needs.
· Collaborate with Finance on inventory valuation, planning assumptions, budget inputs, and working capital targets.
· Provide leadership with clear reporting and recommendations on inventory position, supply constraints, and service risks.
· Serve as a key problem-solver during supply disruptions, priority allocation decisions, and escalated service issues.
Performance, Systems & Continuous Improvement
· Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor supply chain performance and trends.
· Improve planning, procurement, and inventory workflows through process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Partner with IT/Systems teams to optimize ERP/MRP/WMS usage and reporting capabilities.
· Use data analytics to drive decisions on buying, replenishment, lead time management, and inventory optimization.
· Ensure documentation, procedures, and internal controls are maintained and followed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Directly manages supply chain and/or inventory personnel.
· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
· Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, coaching, performance management, and corrective action.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
· 7+ years of progressive supply chain, procurement, planning, and inventory management experience.
· 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
· Strong experience in demand planning, forecasting, procurement, and inventory optimization.
· Experience partnering with Sales and Operations in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
· Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel/reporting tools.
· Experience in tactical apparel, uniforms, footwear, gear, or other consumer products / manufacturing / distribution environments.
· Experience with global sourcing, overseas vendors, and long lead-time planning.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
· Primarily office-based work with regular use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
· Frequent collaboration with warehouse operations, and cross-functional teams.
· May require occasional visits to warehouse/distribution/manufacturing areas.
· May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds.
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively throughout the workday.
· Travel may be required occasionally for vendor visits, trade events, or company meetings
