About the Responsibilities
As the Water Operations, Power Programs, and Engineering Services Director, you would provide leadership and coordination in various activities and across these departments; develop and implement strategies, policies, and programs to ensure that the Central Arizona Project (CAP) mission is accomplished. As a member of the Management Council, performing complex administrative and professional work on a wide variety of special projects to ensure they are in concert with the policies, procedures, and goals set forth by the General Manager and Board of Directors.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Participates in creating, developing and implementing business strategy and policy for the CAP. Develops and implements plans, objectives and procedures for directed functions, and recommends initiatives for CAP strategic plans, policies and objectives.
2. Supervises, coaches and mentors staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions.
3. Represents the General Manager in various meetings, assisting with input and guidance to achieve an outcome that is beneficial to the greater good of the organization, community and customers.
4. Oversees the development and implementation of budgets, programs, policies and procedures for assigned departments, or as directed by the General Manager; and evaluates programs, procedures, and organizational structure to ensure effectiveness of programs and operations.
About the Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten (10) years of applicable work experience in a related field, including six (6) years in progressively responsible supervisory or management roles; or high school diploma/GED and fourteen (14) years of applicable work experience in a related field, including six (6) years in progressively responsible supervisor or management roles.
- Successful demonstration of interpersonal, supervisory, management, organization and technical skills.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic and business planning; highly developed participative leadership, negotiation, communications, and interpersonal skills are critical.
- Significant experience overseeing large programs including operations and capital budgeting; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job such as those listed above.
- A valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
