Director of Payments Operations

About the Role 

We're looking for a Director of Payment Operations to own end-to-end payment execution and formalize how Papaya runs payments for both B2B and B2C - building the operations engine each flow needs to scale reliably. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Own end-to-end payment execution. 
• Streamline payment operations engine for B2B and B2C. 
• Build key KPIs, reporting, processes, controls, and tooling to support payment operations at scale in the AI era. 
• Collaborate cross-departmentally with teams such as GTM, Product, Finance, and others. 
• Own payment SLAs; act as escalation point for delays and complex payment issues. 
• Drive real-time visibility into payment status, funding health, and failure rates. 
• Drive AI transformation of the department. 
• Build and lead a high-performing global payment ops team. 

• 10+ years in payment operations, managing execution at scale. 
• Direct experience with both B2B and B2C payment flows. 
• Track record building/formalizing payment ops function.  
• Cross-functional experience with treasury, banking, product, engineering, compliance. 
• Strong grasp of payment rails, cross-border/FX, and payments regulation. 
• Data-driven; AI/automation mindset. 
• Strong executive communication skills. 
• Fintech / global payroll / EOR-AOR background a plus.
