What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For

Under the direction of management, the Delivery Driver (Logistics Specialist II) receives, logs, and delivers packages, equipment, mail, inter-campus mail, surplus materials, and furnishings to and from college customers and external vendors. This includes logging all incoming packages and freight and coordinating their delivery. Processes all outgoing mail using mail machine, as well as receives and distributes all incoming mail from CDS mailbox. Provides customer service by communicating with College staff, via email and phone, regarding status of incoming, outgoing and delayed or lost packages. Creates weekly and monthly package, freight tracking and mail machine postage reports. Creates financial reports, providing on-demand analysis and price assessments for CDS, Purchasing and Bookstore Managers. Assists with tracking custodial inventory, personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory, and Print Center paper inventory. Provides back-up coverage for campus mail specialists and warehouse shipping/receiving specialists. Interpersonal contacts primarily include Central Distribution Services peers, College staff, external delivery services, manufacturers and local businesses.

This position requires well-developed verbal skills to present and exchange information, which is sometimes technical or complex. Work results impact the accuracy, reliability, and acceptability of further results beyond the immediate work section. Responsible for producing journey-level work output on an independent basis, subject to supervisory direction and review. May provide training and guidance to other staff.
 

Additional responsibilities may include delivery of packages, equipment, collecting and delivering college surplus materials, assisting staff with small office moves, carrying out property relocations across the district, and the distribution and organization of supplies and equipment at each of the campus locations and learning centers. In addition, responsible for processing work orders in the AiM system.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

One year of experience related to materials handling including tracking and delivery.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Oregon, and possess an acceptable driving record including three years of accident-free driving, with no recent moving violations.

Basic knowledge of computer data entry/retrieval procedures. Must acquire Forklift Operator certification within six months of employment.

Success Criteria: These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position. Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

- Demonstrated experience employing high-level customer service skills (dealing with staff, administrators, and faculty)
- Experience organizing and scheduling work to meet established, strict timelines with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with the public.
- Experience working under various regulations/policies, and communicating with those who are unfamiliar with those policies.
- Experience driving delivery vans and medium-duty trucks with lift gates.
- Have the ability to learn to process the mail (sorting and running the mail machine).
- Able to lift 50lbs.

How We Determine Initial Salary Placement

The first two steps of the range are: $47,034 to $48,440 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.
