The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a customs brokerage in Canada. This position is critical to ensuring shipments are handled in a timely and efficient manner, working collaboratively with the Highways team to deliver exceptional service to our clients. If you’re comfortable navigating new systems and enjoy finding tech-savvy ways to streamline your work, this could be the role for you!

What You’ll Do

  • Review documentation and prepare customs release entries for processing.
  • Process and manage Highway releases.
  • Analyze documents to determine applicable tariff classifications, duties, and tax rates.
  • Collect supplementary information or documentation as required from customers, carriers, CBSA, and others.
  • Email clients with clear, concise communication to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Handle and resolve challenging situations professionally and effectively.
  • Liaise with other teams for entry follow-up as required.

  • Enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete files within required timeframes and in accordance with A & A and Canadian regulations.
  • Review files for accuracy and errors, ensuring compliance.
  • Handle phone inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Experience:
2+ years in customs clearance coordination, ideally with Highway shipments. Prior experience at a Canadian customs brokerage is a strong asset.
  • Certification: A Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent Canadian designation is preferred, or the willingness to earn it - we’ll support you.
  • Customs Knowledge: A solid understanding of Canadian rules and regulations for the importation of goods.
  • Tech-savvy: Comfortable picking up new systems quickly and finding efficiencies in digital tools. Experience with ITMr4, Cargowise, and/or CANdata is an asset. Proficient in Gmail/Front, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
  • Working style: Organized, responsive, dependable, and punctual. A self-starter who works well independently, multitasks comfortably, and brings strong problem-solving and communication skills.
