Description

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Logistics Specialist join our fast-paced, dynamic team in Saint John, New Brunswick. 



Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our internal and external business teams to ensure operations are running smoothly and risk management plans are developed to avoid disruptions in shipping (load list, permits, escorts, etc).
  • Ensure the fleet is complaint with annual registrations, annual and trip special permits and IRP.
  • Complete all quarterly IFTA reporting  
  • Build and maintain relationships with Special Permits offices in Atlantic Canada.  
  • Work with all operational branches and ensure mobilizations and demobilizations are being followed as per internal models.
  • Identification, documentation and implementation of opportunity for improvement.  
  • Review booking information verifying accurate pick-up/delivery information and availability.
  • Negotiate and establish rates, required equipment, service expectations with carriers for each job/project.
  • Negotiate any additional charges with carriers/customers ensuring the accuracy of the information and obtaining appropriate support documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement with carriers to avoid customer disruptions and fines.
  • Ensure that customs clearance is set up and processed correctly.
  • Meet customer requirements at every stage of the dispatching process.
  • Resolve service or rate disputes maintaining integrity or reputation.
  • Optimize profit margin without compromising service.
  • Build strong relationships with the carriers, while monitoring on-time performance.
  • Understand current industry market conditions and communicate impacts to the business. 


Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Always initiate communication and drive process and strong follow up is paramount
  • Knowledge of the transportation/trucking industry required.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills focusing on teamwork and collaboration within all levels of the business.
  • Effective Writing Skills: Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate  
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • A strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-tasking in a fast-paced industry.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer applications.
  • Ability/availability to be on-call is a requirement
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License.
  • Some travel in Atlantic Canada maybe required
  • Field visits, working closely with operations a must
