SUMMARY

 

The primary job responsibilities include,   but are not limited to, management of the Bering Sea Crab operations and Crab   vessels owned by Coastal Alaska Premier Seafoods (CAPS).

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Calculate crab quotas based on estimates and percentages from previous year for pre-season planning.

· Coordinate annual COOP meeting, confirm members lease agreements.

· Communicate   with custom processors pre-season to coordinate Share matching.

· Sharematch QS via NMFS online matching site.

· Project delivery schedules for all crab fisheries based on QS, Matches & vessel capacity.

· Update each fishery spreadsheet with current year pounds by permit and delivery location and deduction percentages for fees. 

· Communicate permit numbers with deliveries to Processors and vessel.

· Enter onto crab spreadsheets delivery pounds, price calculations and crew shares per Fish Ticket.

· Approve payments and statements for QS Holders and Crew per each delivery and post season adjustments.

· Manage pounds available to catch balance for IFQ/CDQ at all times.

· Coordinate with other Coop managers for IFQ/CDQ transfers as needed for overages.

· Coordinate lease agreements with outside fishers, as needed.

· Confirm lease and share matched crab payments are accurate and entered into crab spreadsheets.

· Monitor taxes & fee payment schedule for accuracy and timeliness.

· Manage personnel issues for Crab vessels. 

· Coordinate with Port Engineer for shipyard and drydock needs. 

· Ensure vessels are in compliance per Federal and State regulations

· Coordinate with Sales and Logistics dept on CVC Lbs per delivery.

· Longline sales and support. 

· Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

     

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

Must possess the ability to represent the   company in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.  Must   have intermediate level skills in Excel. Masters Degree in Administration or   related field is required. Minimum of three   years experience of vessel/plant seafood operations in a managerial role. Must   have knowledge with seafood political and regulatory issues and   decisions. Must understand strong   grasp of admiralty & maritime activities. Relevant experience with professional vessel association. Must be able   to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing   situations. Ability to motivate others and build high production teams   through exemplary leadership. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

In order   to successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is   regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long   periods of time, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery,   communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside   an office. While performing the duties   of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 25   lbs. He/she will be required to stand,   walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close   vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust   focus. This position also requires the   ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This   position is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens   and fluorescent lighting. It requires   the regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse. The noise level in the work environment is   usually quiet. Travel is required, as needed.  Must be able to board vessels and move   around in small spaces.
