THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible to receive and book the surgical procedures to be performed in the Operating Room. Also responsible to assist with data and charge entry, generate statistical reports used in the management of the business of the Operating Room.

Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrates effective scheduling of surgical procedures. Ensures the accurate and appropriate scheduling

  • of all cases performed within surgical services. Considers staffing and anesthesia needs and utilization when

  • scheduling cases.

  • Communicates any needs for scheduling modification and development on a daily basis with the Manager,

  • Surgery Control Desk Nurse, and Anesthesia.

  • Inputs patient charges in a timely manner as required utilizing the appropriate systems and avoiding drop charges from being entered.

  • Demonstrated effective scheduling in timecard Kronos System. Monitors and inputs on call hours of the OR staff. Repetitively throughout the week notifies Team Leader and Manager of employees approaching overtime hours.

  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and customer service skills as measured by feedback from

  • external customers (Central Scheduling, Physician Offices, etc.)

  • Follows BSMH policies and maintains high standards of safe work performance.

  • Attends and participates in department/unit meetings per unit policy

  • Actively participates in performance improvement

Required Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

  • Prior hospital experience, prefer experience as a PCT or NA
