Title: Chief of Infrastructure and Operations
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To support the offices of Transportation, Maintenance, Food Services, School Safety and
Security while providing day-to-day and strategic leadership of construction and capital
projects. Work includes defining project objectives, initiating and executing project management
tasks, and overseeing quality control throughout the project lifecycle attention to budgeting
details and deadlines is required for all areas of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Evidence of (a) satisfactory prior experience in construction and/or project management,
(b) leadership skill, and (c) a reliable previous work attendance record.
? Possess an in-depth knowledge of buildings/grounds maintenance, HVAC control
systems, energy management, and vehicle maintenance for gasoline and diesel
powered vehicles, preferably in a school environment.
? Knowledge of basic business practices is essential.
? Demonstrates the ability to clearly communicate with different stakeholders utilizing a
variety of methods as may be required.
? Demonstrated capability with personal computers and related software programs is
required.
? Candidate must possess, or be eligible and willing to possess, a valid commercial
driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
? An independent work ethic, comprehensive analytical ability, attention to detail, and
strong interpersonal skills are highly desirable.
Credentials desired include:
? Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar.
? Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in
public administration, business, engineering or a related field or a combination of
education and experience to demonstrate success in the position.
? Other qualifications may be considered at the discretion of the Board.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure regulatory compliance, adherence to approved plans and reporting as
appropriate.
2. Engage in asset management to include capital improvement planning.
3. Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, including procurement
activities, with support from division staff.
4. Communicate regularly about project goals, development, and outcomes with various
stakeholders.
5. Troubleshoot problem areas and build contingency plans successfully with supportive
communications as needed.
6. Deal with problems and emergency situations in a reasonable and appropriate manner.
7. Provide oversight and support to the Office of Transportation and Maintenance.
8. Provide oversight and support to the Supervisor of Food Services.
9. Provide oversight and support to the Supervisor of Safety and Security.
10. Performs critical human resource functions such as daily job scheduling, performance
evaluation, and training and development.
11. Maintain the AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) and Safety Data
Sheets (SDS) for the school division. Make and forward copies of pertinent documents
to each school, as appropriate, to be kept in buildings.
12. Oversee coordination of safety inspection reports as required.
13. Maintains after-hours availability for emergency response.
14. Ensure that all facilities are in compliance with federal, state and local guidelines.
15. Ensure all facilities are in compliance with the American’s with Disabilities Act.
16. Others duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Use computer, printer, copier, scanner, calculator, fax machine, phone, and otherequipment as
needed.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month contract, Exempted FLSA status; salary to be established annually by the School
Board. Will consider part-time employment to fulfill responsibilities.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and
administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
