Overview (Scope of Role)

The Category Procurement Manager is responsible for $30MM of spend over roughly 60 vendors. Although the position is located in Midland, MI the successful candidate would be responsible for procurement of some Altuglas raw materials at Bristol, PA and Louisville, KY; and Aristech materials in Florence, KY.  Additionally this position is responsible for managing some contract manufacturers for both subsidiaries.  He/She will drive the negotiations, contracting, and strategy necessary to secure reliable supply of high quality raw materials at the best possible economics within assigned groups.  

Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement strategy for critical raw materials such as ATH, peroxides, and various additives for the North America region, covering both domestic and imported raw material supplies for Altuglas and Aristech.  Overcome supply challenges while maintaining a competitive cost structure.
  • Strong cross functional collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, R&D, Quality and Commercial to provide proper cost forecasting, risk mitigation, inventory management, product development and secured supply of quality material to meet demand.
  • Execute supply contracts that align with the raw material procurement strategy.  Acts as the escalation focal point between Trinseo and our suppliers to help meet the needs of the company.
  • Support the procurement team in other regions and any future operations expansion within the region to identify and develop suppliers. Be the proponent and project lead for the qualification and approval process for new vendors within the given raw material groups.
  • Communicate challenges and opportunities to business management and contribute to business leadership meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering/chemistry.

  • Training/experience in Procurement/Supply Chain approaches and strategies is required

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles
  • Multinational company background, preferably with experience in operational procurement
  • Experience with chemical procurement or packaging is preferred
  • Plastics, Chemical, Materials industry background is preferred
  • The successful candidate will be well-versed in commercial negotiations
  • Expertise Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel (pivot tables) is required
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills are important
  • Language skill – English. Spanish is a plus
