Description

The Supply Chain Buyer will be responsible for coordinating purchasing activities for the company demonstrating efforts to sustain and enhance Mrs. Clark's Foods’ position as a supplier of choice within our designated categories. The successful individual will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. This position reports to the Operations Support Manager, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests
  • Searches inventory records and reports to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity
  • Contacts suppliers to obtain prices and specifications
  • Verifies specifications for products to be ordered
  • Meets with suppliers and customers
  • Must be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals, and find more profitable suppliers
  • Creates purchase orders
  • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries
  • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with suppliers and customers via phone, email, and in person
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, & percentages. Standard costing a plus
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong attention to detail

Education and/or Experience

  • College student nearing graduation to obtain BA or BS Degree in Supply Chain Management
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Will entertain other desirable candidates with Supply Chain Purchasing experience
  • Knowledge of Access Database software; BPCS Inventory software; BPCS Manufacturing software; BPCS Order processing systems; Excel Spreadsheet software, Access Database software, and Word Processing software.
